"you don't have a right to feel insecure"

Post by The Orchestra on Fri Oct 12, 2012 11:06 pm

wow internet, just wow :/

i just read a post that's basically saying that men have no right to be insecure about their appearance, especially white men, because apparently society doesnt have high and unrealistic expectations of them. this is a whole new level of stupid.

ALL people face the high and unrealistic standards society holds us to. race and gender do not exclude anyone from that, in fact nothing excludes anyone from that.

anyone in this world has the right to feel and believe whatever they want to (or whatever they're taught to unfortunately) about themselves. whether those feelings and thoughts are accurate in other people's eyes is beyond the point because absolutely no one in the world has the right to invalidate how that person feels, not ever. dont ever tell someone they have no right to feel or believe something because it has *nothing* to do with you. instead why dont you be a supportive and kind-hearted person and try to help them think more positively? it isnt difficult to do and at the very least it's the right thing to do.

no one should have to feel so insecure about themselves and i'm tired of the world telling them otherwise while at the same time telling them that they arent good enough.

agreed 110% with you, Kimi, that's so ridiculous. how on earth does being a guy prevent you from being insecure about your appearance? it doesn't at all. :/
